Class News and Update
Hello Room 205 Families,
Hope your cooler than normal Fall is starting off well. Read below for updates in Room 205.
Homework
Reading logs are due every Friday. More than half the class did not have them ready last Friday. We had a productive class meeting around not only reading at home but also taking responsibility to getting materials turned in on time, completed correctly.
Reading
We are finishing up our second unit this week focused on making visualizations (mental images) in our reading to improve how we understand our books. We are also building independent awareness of finding books at our "just right level". CLICK HERE for information about finding just right books.
Writing
We've started our 2nd unit of writing. This unit builds off the multi-genre drafts students developed in the first unit. Over the next two weeks students will take one writing piece and take it through the writing process of revising, proofreading, and publishing. Look for published work coming home in mid-October.
Math
We are in the middle our our first unit: understanding multiplication and division. CLICK HERE to see more information about this unit and what's coming up! Students can be practicing their multiplication flash cards at home as well.
Social/Emotional
We spent several weeks developing a class charter focused on creating a healthy and robust class environment for everyone. After much debate and compromise we decided upon six words. We want to feel optimistic, confident, unique, welcomed, happy, and comfortable in Room 205. We came up with strategies to make all those words happen as consistently as possible. CLICK HERE to see the finished product.
